LASER HAIR REMOVAL

What is laser hair removal and how does it work?
The Syneron Aurora DS Laser uses intense pulsed light and radio frequency to safely eliminate unwanted hair. This dual energy source is a non-invasive approach to permanent hair removal. Controlled pulses of light and radio frequency penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the hair follicles. The energy damages or destroys the potential for re-growth in the follicle without damaging the surrounding tissue.
Hair grows in cycles of three stages. The laser affects hair follicles when they’re in the third stage - the growth phase – on the skin’s surface. Because the three stages of the hair growth cycle are staggered, a series of treatments is needed to destroy hair follicles that enter the growth phase at a later time.

What does it treat?
The Syneron Aurora DS Laser removes unwanted hair from
all areas of the body including:

What is the usual course of treatment?
Patients are asked to shave the treatment area one day before their scheduled laser session. During the procedure, the Aurora DS Laser head is passed over the skin to reach growing hair follicles. Facial areas such as the lip, chin and beard can be treated in minutes. Large areas such as backs, shoulders, abdomens, and legs can be treated quickly. After treatment the area is cleansed and a sunscreen applied as needed.
You will notice some bald patchy spots in the treated area 3-4 weeks post treatment as some hairs shed from the follicle. This shedding time depends on individual factors such as hair type and skin type. Dark coarse hairs tend to be shed faster.
Most patients undergo a series of 4 treatments. The first 3 treatments are done about 2 months apart for most areas on the body. After the third session, there will be a period of hairlessness where the follicles are resting together until they eventually grow at the same time and resurface. This growth period may occur 2-5 months following treatment, but it varies with anatomic area. This is the ideal time for the fourth laser treatment.

Laser hair removal leaves your skin looking and feeling smoother and softer. Treated areas should be permanently free of hair after four treatments.
