Laser Hair Removal

WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Laser Hair Removal is an in-office procedure that reduces the appearance of body hair. A laser targets the melanin in the hair follicle, heats it, and destroys the follicle that produces the hair.

WHAT IS IT USED FOR?
It reduces the appearance of unwanted hair.

WHAT ARE THE COMMON SIDE EFFECTS?
The most common side effects include redness, bumps, and swelling. These are temporary and will subside with proper care. Rare side effects include hyper-pigmentation or hypo-pigmentation which can eventually subside, being tan-free in the area to be treated significantly reduces these risks.

HOW SOON SHOULD I SEE RESULTS?
Immediately

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Hair grows in 3 stages. Only hair in the active stage of growth will be permanently reduced by laser treatments. Appointments should be scheduled every 4-6 weeks apart for a series of 6 to 8 treatments. This schedule follows the stages of hair growth and should be maintained for optimum results. More treatments may be necessary to achieve desired results.

WHO CAN BE TREATED BY LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Laser hair removal works best on pale skin and dark hair. It does not work well on blonde, red or white hair.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Refrain from waxing or tweezing the area in between treatments and for 4-6 weeks before your first treatment. Do not tan for 2-4 weeks before, this could increase the risk of pigmentation problems. If you have a history of cold sores, in the area being treated you may need to take preventative medicine prior to treatment, please
inform the aesthetician. Shave 24 hours prior to the service and remove all
deodorant, makeup, and lotions.

HOW SHOULD I TAKE CARE OF MY SKIN AFTER TREATMENT?
One should treat their skin gently after laser hair removal. Avoid swimming and strenuous exercise 2-3 days after a treatment. Do not shave the area, rub, or scratch the area. Avoid sun exposure during the time your skin feels sensitive and use and SPF 30 or higher when you resume sun exposure.
