Steven M. Shumer, M.D.
Dermatologist

Dr. Shumer graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree and also received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He did his internship at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Shumer completed his dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. During his training he published research in the treatment of difficult warts with Bleomycin injections. He became a board certified dermatologist upon completion of his residency training.
Dr. Shumer has served as chairman of the dermatology department at William Beaumont Hospital since 1995. He has been voted “Top Doc” in dermatology, as reported annually in metropolitan Detroit’s Hour Magazine. This award is determined by 16,000 surveys mailed to M.D.s and D.O.s who nominate colleagues they deem “the best” in their given specialties. Dr. Shumer is active in the Michigan Dermatological Society and has served as chairman of the ethics committee.

Wendy I. Sadoff, M.D.
Dermatologist

Dr. Sadoff graduated from the University of Wisconsin and received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her dermatology residency program at Henry Ford Hospital, where she was chief resident in her final year. Following her residency, Dr. Sadoff became board certified, and served as the Dermatology Division Head for the Northeast Region of Henry Ford Hospital.

Dr. Sadoff joined Franklin Dermatology in 2001, where she enjoys treating pediatric and adult patients with a variety of dermatologic medical and surgical conditions. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Sadoff also participates in clinical research studies, has published in dermatology journals, has presented to her colleagues at professional conferences, and enjoys working with both radio and television media in educating the public about healthy skin.

Laurie Linden Kohen, M.D.
Dermatologist

A lifelong suburban Detroiter, Dr. Kohen received a Bachelor of Science degree with highest distinction from the University of Michigan. She then graduated as one of the top five students in her class at the University of Michigan Medical School, where she served as president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her transitional year internship at Oakwood Hospital, where she was “Intern of the Year.” Dr. Kohen completed her dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital, where she served as chief resident.

During her training she published and/or spoke on the topics of leishmaniasis, intravascular lymphoma and alopecia neoplastica. She was awarded the Livingood International Fellowship for academic excellence.

Dr. Kohen is extremely excited to be the newest physician at Franklin Dermatology and enjoys caring for patients of all ages with a variety of medical, surgical and cosmetic concerns.

Deanna Geisler, P.A. – C
Physician Assistant

Deanna Geisler graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree, and also received her physician assistant degree from Western Michigan University. She joined our staff as a physician’s assistant in 1992. Deanna has extensive experience in both medical and cosmetic dermatology including diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions, skin examinations and treatment of skin cancer, surgical procedures, acne, lasers, Botox, dermal fillers, and other cosmetic treatments.

Deanna is a consultant and trainer for Allergan, the makers of Juvederm and Botox, and for Medicis, the makers of Restylane and Perlane. She is a published author in Cosmetic Surgery Magazine and a frequent lecturer at professional meetings where she teaches other physician assistants medical dermatology and the artistry of cosmetic procedures.


Our Light Sheer Diode Laser is the “gold standard” for laser hair removal. It provides long-term permanent hair reduction for both men and women for any body area. A series of treatments is recommended to maximize results. The length of each session and the cost is dependent on the area being treated.
