Unwanted hair can be removed by the Scitonâ„¢ PROFILE laser system. All skin colors can be effectively treated and this system is ideal for hair removal over large areas. The area to be treated goes through a unique computer-guided scanning procedure. Hair follicles are then heated with laser light and quickly cooled. Since this procedure treats actively growing hair follicles, several treatments, spaced 3 to 8 weeks apart, are required for removal.

If you're considering laser hair reduction, the following information will provide you with a good introduction to the procedure. Please request a consultation.

Length: A few minutes to 1 hour. Requires more than 1 session.
Anesthesia: None or local.
In/Outpatient: Usually outpatient, unless combined with other surgical procedures that require hospitalization.

Potential Risks: Burns or injuries caused by laser heat. Scarring. Abnormal changes in skin color. Flare-up of viral infections (cold sores) and other infections (rare).
Recovery: Most people go back to work within 1 day. Fading of redness within 1 week. Return of pigmentation 6-12 months. Daily sunscreen use recommended.
